My Favorite Fruit

Avocados have got a bad Rap! But why? Because they are bad for you ? Like many things that have to do with health and fitness, there have been false claims, made by big companies with financial gain as their number one priority. These companies care more about making money than they care about your health and they are willing to sacrifice your health for financial gain. Are they too blame? I am getting way off track here.

Anyway, Avocados have gotten a bad wrap because they are high in fat. Great, so does that mean red meat is bad? Walnuts? Salmon? When you are told something is good or bad start asking why? For who? Then do dome research to educate yourself. My favorite fruit, Avocado that is, may very well be a “bad” food for some people and “good” for others.

There are so many things you can do with avocado. You can makes dips, mayonnaise, salad dressings, and the list goes on. In my opinion, the addition of avocado is an immediate upgrade to anything.  Come to think of it I am surprised we have yet to see chocolate covered Avocado.

According to the California Avocado Commission, a medium Hass avocado contains about 22.5 grams of fat, two-thirds of which is monounsaturated. They’re also very low in fructose, which is yet another boon, and provide close to 20 essential health-boosting nutrients, including:Fiber, Potassium,Vitamin E, B-vitamins and Folate.

My favorite ways to consume avocados are mashed in to hard boiled eggs to create a mayonnaise substitute for egg salad or to be eaten as a snack with a couple pinches of sea salt right out of the shell.

Give this delicious fruit a try, and remember even though the skin is thick it is important to opt for organic avocados 🙂
